Jennifer Anniston Posts a Health Advisory on her Social Media Handle

by Tiago Decker

What a world we live in when celebrities are forced to give “health advisories” on their social media handles instead of showing off their lifestyles and wealth as we are usually accustomed to. The Friends alum made a sincere request to her 34.4 million followers on Instagram to talk about the importance of wearing a mask amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“I understand masks are inconvenient and uncomfortable. But don’t you feel that it’s worse that businesses are shutting down… jobs are being lost… health care workers are hitting absolute exhaustion. And so many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren’t doing enough,” Jennifer captioned her post,  alongside a selfie of her showing off her black mask.

The actress further points that her message should not be taken as an act of political submerge or something which should even be part of a debate.

“I really do believe in the basic goodness of people so I know we can all do this,” she continued. “BUT still, there are many people in our country refusing to take the necessary steps to flatten the curve and keep each other safe.”

“People seem worried about their ‘rights being taken away’ by being asked to wear a mask,” she said. “This simple and effective recommendation is being politicized at the expense of people’s lives. And it really shouldn’t be a debate.”

The United States is seeing various debates emerging across the country with some people even questioning the viability or the existence of the virus with many pointing out that wearing a mask impedes on their “freedom”.

While Anniston stays away from getting into political topics, a strong message from the actress at this point can be seen as an effort to bring the American public together. Coming to the end of her message, the actress posts a gorgeous selfie of her wearing a mask in an effort to set a role of leading by example.
